Networking Hashtags on Twitter

Networking Hashtags on Twitter.

Hashtags are used to engage in conversations about a certain topic and without them, you are more likely to be tweeting to yourself than anyone else. Twitter is not just a social media platform, it’s a great support network for businesses and individuals alike, you just need to know how to tap into it. Below is a chart of most of the Irish networking hashtag hours. Have a look and see which ones are relevant to you, and jump in!

How do they work?

A hashtag basically groups all the tweets that contain that hashtag into one feed or conversation. You can follow that specific feed and chat to the others engaging in the feed by using the relevant hashtag. For example, if I was to tweet “Hello #WexfordHour, how is everyone tonight?” That tweet would go into the conversation for #WexfordHour and everyone following that conversation would see it. It allows me to chat to other likeminded people (in this case, people from Wexford) who I might not have connected with before. But don’t forget to use the hashtag in all your tweets when engaging in the conversation. If you forget to enter the hashtag, your tweet won’t go into the conversation.

Trending Hashtags

Wondering what’s happening in the world or what people on Twitter are talking about? Check out what Hashtags are Trending on Twitter. The Trending list is usually to the left (sometimes to the right) of your TwitterFeed. You can change the location of where the trending results are from, so keep it relevant to your area (ie Ireland, Dublin, Wexford). This is a great way to keep up to date with breaking news stories and other high topic conversations that are happening online.
